One of dilemmas with television coverage is finding the games. I was recently asked by an acquaintance (not really a fan, per se) what channel WNBA games were on, so she could watch. I realized the answer I was going to give was really convoluted, because coverage seems really piecemeal, unless you’re a hardcore fan, who keeps track of the myriad of outlets. BTW, CBSSN on Xfinity is Channel 633 in (at least parts of) Seattle.
You are absolutely correct! And while I saw a ton of hate and disparaging comments about the WNBA getting a TV deal with ION, I don't think those people understand how important something like that is. This season you now KNOW you can watch one or multiple WNBA games on ION every single Friday this year.
Over the years, I've had a few cult hit shows that I loved but they always struggled to gain traction and an audience because every season they were on a different day and time slot before eventually getting canceled.
One of the big reasons NBA on TNT became as popular as it is today is that you always knew you'd get a double-header of NBA action on Thursday evenings on TNT. We need the WNBA to start getting that consistently with their next media rights deal.
PS: I double checked Channel 633 and sadly it's not part of my TV Cable package. I'm thankful all Storm games that are on CBS Sports Network are also aired on Fox13+ FKA JoeTV. But I still am disappointed when other good WNBA action is on but I don't have that channel and can't watch it. Thanks for the comment and the support!
In todays basketball a 4 or 5's roll has changed. Once dominating the majority of the offense to primarily setting screens, passing, defense and rebounding. Knowing this Dennis Rodman type roll is important to succeed in todays game. I really like Dulcy's game and talent. If she can learn this roll I think she can be really productive off the bench giving Mercedes and Ezi breaks when need be.
If I'm the WNBA I would counter the way most sports leagues are going and make the product easily accessible staying away from just streaming some games. I'm glad they haven't gone that route yet which I think is smart and competitive..
