Someone needs to tell Skylar she's a first ballot hall of fame as well. Watching her play the game is like watching Picasso paint. A masterpiece every time she plays the game.
Rewatching the Lynx, Aces, and now Liberty games, I was impressed by how each of them really could have gone either way- a turnover here or there, a rebound, a three that we make and they miss, etc. The Storm are coming out on top of these and it's so fun to watch!
So it's great to have all these veteran players who are so good in the clutch, whether it's Gabby, Sky, Nneka, EW, AC.
If you haven't watched the entire post-game press conference I linked in the article, go listen to the part where Coach Quinn is talking about "out-teaming teams". Essentially, playing better as a team. More together to help one another. And to make extra effort and extra hustle plays. There were possessions against Las Vegas and against New York, where Seattle's will to win was significantly higher than the other team's, and that's why they've won their last couple of games.
Thanks for including the postgame video! Do you have a good source for postgame videos? I don’t seem to have the magic touch when I search. (Looking for opposing teams as well).
Also great insight again!
I didn’t respond last time, but as someone who would have liked to see AC come in around $160k—not to say she doesn’t deserve every penny—just thinking the cap flexibility that would have given us with the 11th/12th spot would have been nice….It was interesting to hear how she impacts the team on the bench, and to your point, makes her value above usage.
Thanks for posting the press conference videos. They were very enlightening. I was a bit surprised (and a bit disappointed) at the saltiness/surliness from Diggins and Nneka toward the questioner about Gabby being overlooked and underappreciated by some. It felt a bit like a "kill the messenger" moment.
It may have been a lazy question - anyone who watches the team knows how incredibly valuable Gabby is - I just felt that there was nothing that would have precluded a more graceful response, especially from Nneka, as she is typically so polished in everything she does.
Sky's comments about Nneka were very moving. The connections among players is one of the things I love best about the W.
Very good point. I think you do see it a little, but not as often in the NBA.

Seattle is also very lucky to have Skylar. She is one of the best point guards in WNBA history, and maybe the greatest scoring point guard.
Thanks for a great article! You are a fine writer!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

A coach player is invaluable.

I got the impression that they felt it was a lazy question, and I agree. It's been a talking point all season.
