As great as Napheesa Collier is, and as much as I love Diamond Miller’s game, I thought Kayla McBride was definitely the difference-maker. She made Jewell’s life hell last night on both sides of the ball. With Juhasz’s development, it looks like the Lynx have nice nucleus and done a pretty quick rebuild. Another obstacle for the Storm. Maybe Cheryl Reeve will look less perpetually grumpy…

Unrelated: Jeff, would the Storm have any interest in Jessica Shepard? I like her toughness, energy and smarts…

Kayla McBride definitely doesn't deserve as much recognition as she should. If the unfortunate thing happens and Jewell Loyd opts to leave Seattle in Free Agency. I think Kayla McBride would be a smart player to try and sign. She's not quite on Jewell's level but she is one of the better shooting guards in the league.

It looks like Jessica Shepard is signed through next season and won't be a UFA until 2025. I liked her game out of college. Although she's never really developed in the WNBA as much as one would hope. She's dealt with a lot of injuries.

I would definitely take a flier on Alanna Smith before I would Jessica Shepard if I was the Storm's front office. Especially, with Seattle's close connection to Australia and Ezi Magbegor, Sami Whitcomb, and Jade Melbourne all projected to be on the team next year.

I had never heard of "the nail" before and it's very interesting to know that it's an actual spot on the court. I really appreciate the article that you linked (or very short podcast: 6+ minutes explaining the nail and how it's used on defense. Thanks.

Jordan never played against Diamond. They didn’t play Maryland over the four years. She actually played with Diamond at USA basketball .

They are close friends so she knows how to defend her
