I don't agree with the characterization of the Storm as a "middle of the pack" team. While technically correct if you look only at their record, the real truth is that we've played 8 of our 10 games against the top half of the league and only 2 games against the bottom 7 teams. Based on our results, I think it's hard to rank us any lower than 3rd. Our ceiling is very high (see the most recent game against the Lynx) and sure we've been a little inconsistent, but so has everyone else except the top 2. The worst team we've lost to was the Aces, and we blew them out in our other matchup!

You’re not wrong about the schedule. Atlanta, for example, has only played one team so far with a winning record currently (Seattle). New York has played zero. The Lynx have only played two teams with winning records (Seattle, Phoenix).

Storm, on the other hand, have only played one team that currently has a LOSING record… Dallas.

That would probably be a bigger factor in a league without as much parity, but it’s still something. Often at the end of a season, if you’re wondering why a team had winning streaks and losing streaks at different points, it can be as simple as the strength of schedule.

I believe I've written about this, but I 100% agree. With the Phoenix Mercury being as good as they have been, the Storm have had one of the more difficult schedules to start the season. Outside of the Liberty, the Storm have played all of the other top teams in the standings and almost none of the bottom teams. Seattle will need to ensure that they beat the Sun, Sky, and Sparks when they play those teams.

Absolutely. No trap games. I will say the Atlanta wins v Fever with Clark and Storm make them seem pretty formidable regardless.

That's fair and to be honest, most of this was written before Wednesday's game, but sadly, I couldn't get it finished in time with work and the Storm games, so that part was written before they beat the Lynx. With that said, Seattle has generally been hovering around the 5th or 6th seed most of the season. They have had one of the more difficult schedules, but the results are the results. They have the talent to be a Top 4 team, but they will need to continue producing wins to prove it.

They sure didn't look middle of the pack Wednesday night! I hope we can now add some depth that Noey will actually use.
