Great article. Thanks!

A quick questions...how did the Aces manage to get the number one pick three years in a row with Kelsey Plum, Aja and Jackie Jones? Does not seem fair and I've never seen that in the NBA.

Dating back to their San Antonio years the San Antonio Stars were one of the worst teams in the league for 3-4 years. Plus the two-year rule that was implemented in 2016 benefited them. Since they kept missing the playoffs they had great odds to win the lottery and ended up winning in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Even though they got the #1 pick with Plum she didn’t play well her rookie season and that’s how they got A’ja. They missed the playoffs again and due to the two-year rule had good odds and won again where they got Jackie Young. Once they had all 3, they became a playoff team and continued to get better as those players got more experience and then they added Chelsea Gray in Free Agency that put them over the top.
