The Unlocked series returns for post-Olympic play. The Seattle Storm got a huge win in the first-ever WNBA Commissioner’s Cup immediately following the Tokyo Olympic games. However, the team has struggled since then.
Without Sue Bird or Breanna Stewart, who were given time off after the Olympics, the team fell to both the Chicago Sky and New York Liberty on the road in Games 22 and 23 of the season.
Seattle lost a heartbreaker to Chicago 87-85 in OT despite a strong performance from the team. EziMagbegor scored a new career-high 21 points in this game.
They then lost to the New York Liberty when they went ice cold in the 4th quarter. Jewell Loyd tied her career-high with 35 points including an unbelievable performance scoring 21 points in the 3rd period alone. But it wasn’t enough as the Storm fell to the Liberty 83-79.
With the return of Stewart, Bird, and another great performance by Loyd, the Storm were able to pick up their first official win of the post-Olympic schedule against the Liberty 99-83.
After going 1-2 in games that count towards the regular season record, Seattle fell out of first place in the WNBA standings and was 17-7 at this point of the season.
All of these full game recaps are unlocked for everyone to read now including their big Commissioner’s Cup victory over the Connecticut Sun.
