The Seattle Storm went into New York and handed the Liberty just their second home loss of the season. It was an impressive win against the defending champions, who were nearly at full strength. I say nearly because the Liberty were still without 6’6” former MVP Jonquel Jones. That obviously had an impact on the game, especially as Seattle’s frontcourt trio of Nneka Ogwumike, Ezi Magbegor, and Dominique Malonga all scored in double figures and combined for 40 points and 20 rebounds. With that said, this win was more impressive than Seattle’s earlier win against New York when the Liberty were also without Sabrina Ionescu and Leonie Fiebich. In case you missed it earlier, you can read the full game recap here.

In Part 2, I wrote more about Dominique Malonga’s impact, a “Chicken or the Egg” scenario, and some other housekeeping items.
